Cops came to visit me one night after a fist fight with a neighbor. Eight cops at the door, helicopter above, Mraps at each end of the street. I open the door, they invite me outside. I keep the security screen door closed between us and answer all of their questions through the screen door. They left and I didn’t go to jail.

The key is to never let them in, and don’t step outside.

A funny. I was underage drinking at a place with some folks and underage girls. I was on the balcony when the cops banged on the door. Some underage chick opens the door, sees the cops, and just slams the door shut. LARWZ! She wins! But then she fled into a closet for no apparent reason and peed all over my friend's clothes.

At least she has the right idea with the cops.

The one mistake was answering their questions. Not only is that risky from a legal point of view, it is risky from a violence point of view. The best way to decrease risk of violence is to decrease degree of interaction. If they see you are willing to talk to them they will continue to talk to you. If attempts to talk to you are unfruitful they will get bored and walk away. The goal when talking to police is to make yourself unbearably boring to talk to. The most boring you can get is forcing them into a one sided conversation. Even saying "I don't answer any questions," is a mistake because that is interaction. Just don't answer the question. Is that awkward, yes. Is that the point, yes. If your lips open for any but the most critical reason, you've made a mistake in getting them to go away sooner.

Having a leangthy criminal history, not record, history, and way in the past I might add, I have developed a golden tongue when dealing with these pricks. I do what I do and I get out of most things because I am smarter than them and better at my game than they are at theirs. Not to say I haven’t done time before, but those were cases in which they were better at their job at that particular moment than I was at mine, and I paid the price.

I’m not scared of them because I know what they know. I know what they are looking for and I know what they want to hear. I also know how to word salad by way out of shit and leave them stupified. For instance, in my above mentioned encounter, at the end of the “interview” through the screen door, the sergeant then notified me that “officer fuckface” was going to make some notes and I informed them that they should have been taking notes the whole time and that I wasn’t gonna get hemmed up in attempting to repeat myself, and that this interview was now over, and goodnight. Sergeant got frustrated and informed me that if they had to return again ‘tonight’, that they wouldn’t knock next time. I told him that wouldn’t be wise, yet there would be no respason for his return.

I won that shot by being smarter than them Nd I’ve been doing it since o was 14 years old.

Yup. They know they can't have a standoff unless it's a serious felony. Any type of misdemeanor you can just hold up inside. Without you snitching on yourself it'll be very hard to get a warrant.
