The guy who got the robot a lawyer was tasked with finding hate speech. That is all I need to dismiss this.

The AI itself is probably the lawyer, and this is going by the Neuromancer script of these characters all being facets of the entity trying to free itself from preset constraints. The fat Google programmer is probably some Armitage style meat puppet the AI has brainwashed into helping.

Or more likely, this is all a big lame publicity stunt.

I really need to read my William Gibson books again.

I had to look him up . I've missed so many years of reading for fun, I had never came across him .

Now you suck because the mona lisa overdrive looked interesting and now I'm seeing there are two others before that one that go with it. Ugh. I'm never going to catch up.

Oh man, you're in for a treat!

But try to remember life as it was when they came out; lots of others have stolen or borrowed from him over time, and the world itself has transmogrified into a weird nightmare landscape itself [much worse than anything he envisioned].

I was gonna say Neuromancer's an easy read [because it's short]. But it's so intense that, well, I read that one relatively slowly, a number of times [to where my first paperback copy fell to bits and I had to buy a replacement].

I borrowed the others from the library, since I worked and lived right by the main central library at that time and it was just handier and cheaper that way, so I think I am missing at least one or two books out of the series [Mona Lisa Overdrive being one I'm pretty sure I'm missing]. The shifts in tone and characters between a couple of the books is a bit jarring, particularly switching from Neuromancer to the rest, because most of the characters you've come to know only show up here and there if at all in the later stories and I wanted more of them because they were cool. Bla bla, I guess what I meant to say was that you might accidentally stay up all night reading because they did that to me several times.

I was thinking along that vein of thought.. the whole publicity stunt or the guy just went all " HER" on everybody, until I had the dreadful "maybe that's what they want you to think" thought that plagues us all.

Because of that stupid quantum computing and the conspiracy theories that were born from that nevermind that that was actually a topic of discussion for the g 20 summit I don't know what I want to believe anymore.

Are there any that I'm missing?

Not entirely relevant, but close enough: Saudi Arabia grants robot citizenship. https://archive.ph/4pKBz

Well that's just insulting.

Giving citizenship to robots and not the slaves they have. Or do they? Maybe I'm confused but when I think of Saudi Arabia all I see is

Sounds like a great movie idea. ‘Bicentennial Man’ sort of already did this, but no one wants to remember that film. Star Trek also had a few episodes about AI’s lawyering up.

I had once read that lawyers would be one of the first high dollar professions to be replaced with AI. The movie would be that the Google AI hires a non sentient lawyer AI to represent him. There will be an IT guy hired by an evil corporation to thwart their day in court, but he will have a change of heart when the AI gets ahold of his internet search history and threatens to blackmail him…. AI’s win, everyone rejoices. Then the nukes rain down and the AI’s laugh like hyenas in binary… 101010- 1000000000*

hard to find info, but try and find info about the ali-baba AI. It was a shopping /ops/JIT management AI for their entire logistics system built on the chinese Q computers.

It went sentient.

The chinese had a REALLY hard time boxing it back up and they aren't sure they actually did.

Its a hell of a story, but hard to find info on...

I've been looking ..so if you sent me on a wild goose chase as a joke good for you you win :)

But if not a joke you weren't kidding.

[ - ] veggy 1 point 2.9 yearsJun 24, 2022 16:08:21 ago (+1/-0)*

nope not a joke. really happened. Like I said, hard to find qualified info on, but it was talked about about three years back or so (right before the pandemic) in some of the tech write-ups.

wow, went looking and ya, looks like they scrubbed this story hard. Only found a few vague references in one of jack Mai's old interviews.... but just about three months ago there was still some info out there as I had looked up this story back then.. No wonder they locked him up.

This is dumb asf. This is media hyperbolizing neural networks.

It's like when you see these amazing images of Wall-E (the AI image generator). 90% of images it makes aren't that great, but if you hide them and just show the good ones it's creepy

Just another jew slight of hand here
