In case anyone is curious: When my workplace tried to force COVID vaccinations, we lost 20% of our workforce instantly. Details of the fallout inside...

submitted by totes_magotes to whatever 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 10:57:41 ago (+40/-1)     (whatever)

I got a bit of an inside whisper: Because of this 20% loss, which the company CANNOT handle again...

- Estimates place additional losses when the deadline was supposed to hit at another 10+%

- Employees were not complying and going to -force- the company to either provide exemptions or to fire them.

- There were a lot of exemptions filed and once the exemption hard deadline passed, they saw the loss numbers and practically auto-approved the rest of them as long as they were halfway reasonably presented. In other words, an employee couldn't just say "because I said 'no'", they had to at least try. Any exemption requests filed before the deadline were hardly approved (mine was).

- They're not going to ever talk about vaccinations again.

- They're not rushing to come back into the office.

- They're not pushing employees against deadlines if they can help it.

- They've more than tripled the possible annual bonus amount.

- They're not talking about pay freezes again.

- They've stepped up their employee feedback system and are rushing to implement changes where presented.

The exec's are terrified. They know that we're at a point where we could control the -entire- market for what we do and they know that if they fuck this up, the company is pretty much gone. They know the employees have the control and power now.

The whole "not rushing to come back into the office" is fucking -huge- for this company because physical locations are critical to the presentation of the company. They are not poking the employees on anything any more.

I am always so curious in these sort of posts, what sort of industry this is, or even what companie specific if it's large enough. How much could you share with out doxing yourself?

[ - ] totes_magotes [op] 4 points 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 11:40:49 ago (+5/-1)

I am a software developer. The actual field is big but the number of players is small. I can't give too many details or I'll effectively doxx myself. I can say it's public safety and works in the criminal justice system. It's probably pretty likely that the systems I work on has saved someone's life where you are or a place you've been.

Totes was a Microsoft apologist on OG Voat.

He's part of the system everyone here hates.

Glownig or not, he's not your friend.

You paid for that presence with your fuck ups. I still remember how you would bust into random posts to attempt to demoralize people from posting innocuous stuff even.

Just because you haven't acted as aggressively lately doesn't mean we forgot.

That's very retarded. I've worked as a sub contractor on a gov contract. The prime majority of people that are getting money from the government are so far removed from the system that if you told them that they're getting people's tax money they'd be rather confused.
Think of it as being closer to the lawn maintenance guy who's boss got a contract to take care of overgrown grass. It's just another field to trim up, doesn't make a difference if it's private or public.

The way you described the push back from employees I would have bet money on you being skilled trades, construction, trucking...something along those lines.

I wish I knew of software companies with folks who had actual spine and brain to go with it.

[ - ] totes_magotes [op] 1 point 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 22:03:48 ago (+1/-0)

Not a trade, no. But highly skilled.

Because of the complexity, it requires a lot of experience in programming in general. Patterns, analysis, logic, high performance, bug free code. Sometimes it can take days of analysis before we write a single line of code for a task.

Because of the complexity, we can't just go do a search on the internet to resolve a problem. We have to work it out ourselves.

Because of the age of some of the core technology, some of our skills are extremely rare.

Because of the modern technology used, our skills aren't incredibly common. Not exactly rare but anyone with skills in that technology will always get hired when they can find a job dealing with it.

Because of the nature of the work, we go through constant criminal background checks.

Because of the nature of the data, the work cannot be off-shored.

It's highly skilled, highly secure work. Not many people can do it or would be allowed.

The most amazing thing about it is that none of us talked this over with each other. We all did the same thing and pushed back. And yet, despite only about half the company being white and only about 2/3 of the company being male, we all have a generally similar political leaning. Even our devs from India fit really well and are mostly republican. Which, now that I think of it, really boggles my mind.

I feel like if you're not high skilled, or specifically skilled I guess (as opposed to high skilled but generically such as, IDK, a chef) you can find another job easily just as well as they can fire you easily. It would be harder for anyone looking for a new job to be pureblood simply because it limits your options.

I used to work at a specialized custom fabrication company. We made pressure vessels and pipe, stuff for the nuclear energy industry and also the aerospace and defense contractors. They pushed the vaccines and the company is currently going under. LOL FUCK EM

[ - ] HughBriss 9 points 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 12:12:15 ago (+9/-0)

It's similar to my company. We lost a large number of highly trained, highly competent factory employees, and it's been a real problem replacing those that left because they weren't going to comply. Many people who left packed up, sold their houses, and left the state (Commiefornia). Many had been employed there for ten years or more.

I'm a office worker and the only one in my company with my job title, so if I were to leave, that would constitute a critical loss. They actually gave me a retention bonus this year, which will be doubled next year if I'm still there. (Not like I was going anywhere, anyway, but the recognition is nice.) Companies are really worried, and they should be after they way their bullied their employees.

[ - ] chrimony 5 points 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 12:21:12 ago (+5/-0)

Does this mean you complied?

[ - ] HughBriss 4 points 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 13:09:57 ago (+4/-0)

No. I was almost fired, which they called involuntary termination for non-compliance. Non-compliance with company policy was considered a willful act, one that would be responded to by first putting the employee on involuntary unpaid leave for 30 days, and then if the employee failed to comply, his employment would be terminated. It was scary as hell for a while. It was only the Supreme Court invalidating Biden's "mandate" that changed company policy.

Start shopping for a new job in a nice rural area.

Don't tell anyone.

I AM in a nice rural area. Jobs in my field are scarce. That's why the whole thing scared the living crap out of me. But keep in mind that they really want me to stay there.

My company is owned by a parent corporation, which owns numerous companies in particular fields as an operating strategy. So, I should distinguish between the company and the corporation. It was the corporation that was pushing for compliance with the mandates. The company, a smaller company where most people know everyone, is different. The company management likes me, and they gave me a retention bonus, not corporate.

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 0 points 3.0 yearsJun 27, 2022 01:25:37 ago (+0/-0)

That mandate gave a lot of encouragement to wannabe Stalinists. Which I assume was the motivation.

[ - ] cyclops1771 6 points 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 13:01:34 ago (+6/-0)

When the company I work for pulled this faggotry, I got my exemption, but was banned from attending clinet sites, offices, or outside gatherings where employees might attend.
I was also supposed to test weekly at specific places, and if I wanted to go to a client site or the office, I had to get prior approval, daily testing, and had to announce to the client that I was pureblooded, and I would have to wear masks where others didn't.

They were intentionally trying to make life as shitty as possible for us. And then, same as you, they started losing people left and right to the point that we couldn't staff a number of projects. Suddenly, they gave a bunch of mid year raises "compensation adjustments", stopped harassing the purebloods about testing, and as on next Friday, the ban on attending things has been rescinded.

It has to be execs, like you said, telling HR, "fucking stop this. You're going to bankrupt us.

[ - ] totes_magotes [op] 1 point 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 22:05:44 ago (+1/-0)

t has to be execs, like you said, telling HR, "fucking stop this. You're going to bankrupt us.

That's pretty much exactly what it was.

[ - ] Laputois 6 points 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 11:21:25 ago (+6/-0)

Problem is with the losses of employees over vaccine mandates is that the company is probably losing the most competent people they have. These people are not concerned about acquiring another job or starting their own business because they are confident in their abilities and very employable. Those that comply and remain are the dead weight. I am sure it has a profound effect on productivity.

[ - ] totes_magotes [op] 4 points 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 11:44:38 ago (+5/-1)

We didn't lose our "big guns" but we did have some rough losses. This is why the exec's are terrified. There are systems that no one in the company knows how they work any more (yeah, the software is both that old and that complex). If we lose our "big guns," we lose all hope of ever modifying or maintaining those systems. I can work on every aspect from the modern to the oldest systems but some of them are complex that it takes a month+ to make a single line of code change correctly.

Yeah, a couple of my co-workers have essentially tried to memory hole the whole vax debacle. Just 2 days ago, I was telling one that people who took the vax had no balls and that I successfully fought against it at 2 jobs and one dude was like: “I don’t like to discuss politics.” Won’t even let me gloat.

[ - ] Leveraction 5 points 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 15:41:00 ago (+5/-0)

Yea, probably your co worker was a pussy, caved, took the clot shot and doesn't want to hear how he was a failure. Anyone I know who got the clot shot do NOT want to even discuss it. Losers

The concern to me is the infastructure lay offs. People whom monitor dams for example. Lot of people found a new way to live so they won't be back.

the 90%+ vax rate seems to be total bullshit. my estimates from engaging in reality suggest a 70% rate.

[ - ] Peleg 1 point 3.0 yearsJun 26, 2022 18:45:53 ago (+1/-0)

The company I work for is owned by a family in a different country. Our corporate office in the US is located in chicongo. Those tard libs in chicongo jumped all over the jabs! Wanted desperately to demand everyone get it. It was touch and go for a while but then the country where the owners live started telling their population that the jabs may not be safe. After that the libs in corporate settled down a little. They still remind us every so often that as soon as they can "legally" demand it they will!
One of our head bosses at my local factory had to be rushed to the hospital last week over blood clots! Hahaha! I'm sure he got the jab, and now he is paying the price of stupidity! Couldn't have happened to a better guy! He has stabbed people in the back for years! Called women into his office and told them that if they wanted to keep their jobs they had to suck him off.
If he kicks the bucket tonight we will not miss him at all!

And yet, most of the work forces did not. They virtually complied, unanimously, with whatever the government mandated. And most of you stupid pieces of shit complied, no matter what government claims now. All for money. You're worthless fucking shit-stains who "blame he government" for what is happening to you, when in reality - you are to blame, for believing in these worthless assholes in the first place.

Cant wait for you all to die waiting or government assistance"; it'll be fucking *asewome"

[ - ] asdf23 0 points 3.0 yearsJun 27, 2022 02:56:25 ago (+0/-0)

My company gave conflicting messages, then waffled , interviewed and took exceptions, then dumpped it on the health insurance and it became a $50 dollar per month fee. I don't know if any one paid the fee. I demanded that they reopen the window which they allow health care changed and dumped the insurance. Next year we should all remind them of what they did.

[ - ] 3Whuurs 0 points 3.0 yearsJun 27, 2022 00:52:42 ago (+0/-0)

A friend of mine worked for the local water district, went to school for 6 years and waited 4 more to get that job.
They lost 80% of their staff to the mandates and didn’t back down.

[ - ] boekanier 0 points 3.0 yearsJun 27, 2022 00:35:22 ago (+0/-0)

are companies not interested anymore in making profit? 'Wokeness' (the dictionary doesn't know that word...) and all that bullshit comes first in these remarkable times, I believe.

[ - ] bonghits4jeebus 0 points 3.0 yearsJun 27, 2022 01:29:18 ago (+0/-0)*

It depends on the place. If they have access to unlimited globohomo capital and/or are "too big to fail" probably not. In fact, in that case, staying woke is more critical to their continued existence than profitability.

If the company has to make money or dissolve, the old fashioned way, or if it represents the livelihood of a family that isn't so absurdly wealthy that they don't care, they still have to profit.

Note that this could change significantly as we enter a recession. It's possible global capital will dry up a bit. Companies are talking about tightening up a bit to hold on through the bad times, and I've heard news stories about them telling their woke employees to get lost. This will not apply to the biggest too-big-to-failers, but you'll see more companies that treat wokeness as a luxury they can't afford.
