And who's the judge of "essential character". Wtf. So you say something obvious like "abortion is murder" or "homosexuals shouldn't be pastors" and no gun for you!

Exactly. Thought crime against the loudest (((voices))) will get someone stripped of a right??
Don't mental health "professionals" already have an obligation to report mentally ill to the government? Now high school bullies will be reading through social media and denying any applicant that don't bow down to the zogbot ideology.
They have your IP address and all history tied to it. When they claim that Voat or whatever two-bit internet Bengalese underwater throat singing web forum you visit constitutes social media, they can charge you with lying on the form and now you're a felon ineligible to own a firearm.
On a side note: I'm amazed that the entire time I lived in that state, not once did I hear discussed the subject of breaking off and forming their own state, and this was in a solidly-red region. Granted, they'll still find wedge issues like sex offenders and protecting children to push insane policies, but without the gullible loonies in the big cities voting for that shit en masse, the burn is much, much slower.
They will be subject to periodic background checks and will have to turn over social media accounts and contact information for adults living in their household.
All part of the strategy to use the red flag laws to selectively interpret any and every offhand comment to strip you of your lawfully-owned property. Sheila Jackson Lee's bill was just a hint at their plan to make lawful gun ownership so onerous and expensive that many will simply give up trying.
Also, it wouldn't surprise me if the list of accounts were leaked to volunteer groups to monitor every comment and like just waiting for the opportunity to report them. In fact, I'll bet it's already in place.
"unless the people of this nation grow up to be pussies and no longer take their rights seriously or do anything about it"
Ben Franklin argued for this phrase to be left in. Others thought the document should be more pure so argued against it. (That sadly is a joke. I wish it was true.)
Considering New York is a blue state full of leftists, how exactly is withholding guns from a populace embodying libtardation a bad thing? Did no one learn anything from the Alec Baldwin fiasco? Peter Pans should not have guns!

Maybe this law should also apply to politicians - but who still believes that voting actually works.
How can someone prove they don't have any social media? I hope this law gets challenged and struck down as well.

Totally unconstitutional.

Sure, in 10-15 years or so, costing taxpayers and the aggrieved many many millions of shekels.
And the following 12 more laws nearly exact in nature? And the 10+ the year following?
The law is dead.
