I don't see "essential character, temperament and judgment" being outlined in the Constitution for self defense or protection against tyrants.

Maybe this law should also apply to politicians - but who still believes that voting actually works.

How can someone prove they don't have any social media? I hope this law gets challenged and struck down as well.

That's a great cautionary tale all around.

On a side note: I'm amazed that the entire time I lived in that state, not once did I hear discussed the subject of breaking off and forming their own state, and this was in a solidly-red region.
Granted, they'll still find wedge issues like sex offenders and protecting children to push insane policies, but without the gullible loonies in the big cities voting for that shit en masse, the burn is much, much slower.

They will be subject to periodic background checks and will have to turn over social media accounts and contact information for adults living in their household.

All part of the strategy to use the red flag laws to selectively interpret any and every offhand comment to strip you of your lawfully-owned property.
Sheila Jackson Lee's bill was just a hint at their plan to make lawful gun ownership so onerous and expensive that many will simply give up trying.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if the list of accounts were leaked to volunteer groups to monitor every comment and like just waiting for the opportunity to report them.
In fact, I'll bet it's already in place.
