It really depends on how much venom is injected during the bite. A younger rattlesnake has less control and will inject it all. Bad. A mature snake will inject just enough to make you go away. A bee sting as it were. Never the less leave the snake alone.

In this case the dude was very unlucky because the venom got injected straight into a vein.
