The main issue I have with Purism is the phone still isn't what I'd call "useable" just yet (including horrid battery life). And the laptops have you paying premium prices for old hardware.
Don't get me wrong, I really, really like their philosophy, but they still aren't there yet.
There's also System76 as an option. Their laptops use Coreboot instead of a traditional BIOS/UEFI, and PopOS is actually pretty nice once you get used to it (or you can throw whatever Linux you want on them). Their desktops assembled in the US, and IIRC the cases are also made in the US from US-sourced materials.
There is nothing you can get that isn't pozzed unless you get old hardware from at least 7 or 8 years ago. Even then. Pentium 3 was already putting a unique code on everything you did and that was like 20 years ago. Intel is worse than AMD but it doesn't really matter cause everything is fucked anyhow. Get a typewriter.
Don't buy anything just make a live usb flash drive with tails on it and use other people's computers. For extra measure, physically destroy the computer once you're done using it.
You can make yourself a decent rifle for under a grand. Under $500 if you're really cheap about it. And it's fun. Like putting together a model or something.
If you decide to go that route and need advice during purchasing or building, shoot me a message.
Er... wait. I screwed that up. Forgot what I was responding to. Hit Newegg (Or don't. Their deals have been kinda meh recently) or here https://www.antonline.com/ their stuff is okay. And again, depending on what you're wanting to do with it, be it badass gaming rig, or fair to middling kinda PC, that can have a drastic effect on cost and availability.
I bought a used rebuild Dell off Amazon. I put a 2nd 2TB hard drive in (this one SSD) nuked and repaved it. I work off the 2TB SSD drive and that stuff gets backed up to the slow 2TB drive. Came with 16GB ram so I left that alone as I'll likely never need that much once windows is gone. Linux - great stuff.
I've never owned one but Librem notebooks from purism have intel processors with intel management engine (essentially a backdoor) disabled. Some AMD mobo bios updates allow for their equivalent of management engine (AMD secure technology)to be turned off.
Depends on budget and use. I splashed out about 8 years ago on an msi gaming laptop that was still going hard when i had the money to start upgrading again. Intel NUC - home headless everything system + CCTV hub stashed in a corner, then taken around work sites so i didnt have to fuck with the laptop then back to stash in corner system now sold to mate.
maxxed out Hades Canyon NUC went straight into my TV in the loungeroom on day 1 and still there now, (without the lounge, i have little more than a bedroom atm) does all my home gaming and entertainment shit, always on. Retired the gaming laptop completely.
surface go i bought for signing paperwork on the fly did everything the NUC did without all the wires and extra shit, NUC went back in a cupboard at home again and meant i could ditch almost an entire bags worth of extra work gear. fucking sweet (already 5 bags to lug around)
Pro 7 i bought so i could do all the rest of my paperwork on the fly without it being on a projector in a class. i dont have the job i used to anymore so it just gets used as my main machine.
im sitting here on a bed on the surface with a rain video running on the tv from the hades. comfy af.
not a massive linux person but whether we like em or not (i dont) all of those machines when running win 10 all talk to each other easily, do what you want them to do, without a lot of fucking around, and if i could find a decent equivalent for a surface pro that wasnt microsoft id be on it but they just fucking work. the other machines you can absolutely put whatever OS you want on them, the pro 7 im not so sure about i seem to recall issues getting it to run properly, but ive used TAILS myself and does work fine.

They have a Linux phone called the Librem5 with hardware kill switches to physically disconnect power from all the microphone and sim and GPS etc.
Even make a $2000 version with every single microchip made in America.
They make laptops and tablets to.
