This meme is retarded ngl

Second pic doesn't scale. You either need scalable solutions to accommodate an increasing number of people or you need to decrease the number of people.

Bullshit. It scales better than anything being proposed if everyone is doing it in their backyards and neighborhoods learn to take advantage of specialization. "Bob's tomatoes are the best." "Joe has a lot of chickens and will trade for eggs."

A backyard isn't nearly enough space to produce enough food for a family. You'd need a very, very large backyard. Even larger if you want to trade with other people.

And it still wouldn't scale. Scaling means that you can ramp up production to increased demand in a very short period of time. If you can ramp up production from ten customers to three billion customers in two minutes, you have something that scales extremely well. This works in IT, but not in farming. So to begin with farming is really bad at scaling. But your solution doesn't even scale from ten to fifty thousand in two years.

First pic can be highly automated and optimized.. scales well.
