I'm sure they met the legal requirements of announcing themselves, but if it's 2am and you hear some vague shouting followed by your door being kicked in it's completely reasonable to say you had no idea it was the police.

I can’t believe this has to be said, but when these cops are serving a no knock warrant, each cop should look at the address on the warrant, and the address on the property. All of them, and be in agreement that they are at the right place. These pinheads go to the wrong house a bit too often. They need more than one set of eyes on the paperwork, maybe someone that can read and perhaps gives a shit if the address is correct.

The cops should stop serving "bust down the door" warrants. That will solve the problem. Then they can go to the wrong address, show a badge, and nobody will get shot. The cops aren't any safer serving warrants this way, so I don't know exactly why they do it, but it limits any sympathy I have for them. Arrest a nigger on his way to work, or the liquor store. If a guy is really not leaving then you're better off showing up with overwhelming force, in the daylight. Shit, you can evacuate the neighbors first if you need to.

The guy who shot first says he didn't hear them. This is exactly the sort of confusion that I'd like to avoid by not breaking down doors in the middle of the night. Whether this guy should have heard them, this time, I don't know. All I know is if they keep doing it, the same thing is going to keep happening.

The only reason I can think of to do this is to increase convictions, basically, by preventing people from destroying evidence. But it's not worth it. Don't forget a cop was shoot, too. Not worth it. And if the cops were even slightly clever, they could get the evidence they need at a much lower risk to everyone.
