Stars are balls of light, I'm glad we agree on that. Big objects from far away can appear small. I never said that plasma was solid. Plasma is its own state of matter, different from a solid.

You need a telescope to get some definition, a digital camera won't cut it.
The nasa pic is taken through only one thin atmosphere, Mars. Not through our thick soup of various elements and compounds.

You need to use the proper tools for the job.
I can also take shitty photos with my digital camera.
I can also see detail with my eyes through a telescope I bought for 100USD a decade ago.
