It matters to me, I get to experience this life, and for a good amount of time if I take care of myself, i get to experience living in this world, and that's a great privilege to have that I do not want to squander anymore than I already have. I don't need some cosmic purpose, I'm no cosmic entity, I'm just a human being, a personal purpose is another meaning for me.

On top of that, if you do need a greater purpose, you still have it, evolution gives it to you, the purpose of life is to produce more organisms with your genes, ideally to increase the number of organisms with your genes, and to do the same with the expressions of those genes. That's the greater purpose of life, now, it may not be much to you, but think about it for a second, this purpose is what shaped every part of you, and what Wil shape every part of humanity going forward, we will constantly be optimized for success in this mission through those who fail, and those who succeed, it's a futurw oriented purpose which also gives you a lot to respect about those in your past as well.

And I don't think you are ever gone entirely, you've made a lasting change on the world simply by existing in it, however briefly, so you last forever in that way, also, if you have children then you've passed on at least part of your essence to other organisms, and continue to live through them.

Legacy is very important to me.

Furthermore, I'm not entirely resigned to death being the cessation of my existence, there may be some way I get to experience living in this world again after my death, if the part of my brain responsible for receiving the experience of living is recycled enough that it once again fulfills the same role in the brain of another creature, I might get to have another life as someone or something else, now all that's a big if, and I'm not qualified enough in neurology to say whether such a physical component even exists, but I'm happy enough to entertain the fantasy of such a thing possibly occurring.

For me life is full of meaning and purpose, in fact, my mind is often preoccupied in thinking on it, that's why I want to build a society that is more suited to the fulfillment of this purpose than the world I've inherited does thus far.

Agreed. My burgers taste better than everything else. Though they do sort of look like what is in the picture minus the mayo goop coming out of the bottom. (I like making my burgers part salad.)
