If every serial killer you show is white, people will assume that white people are more likely to be serial killers, even if the reality is that black people are the ones with the highest chance of serial killing.

If almost every time people see a swan they are shown a black swan, they will assume that most swans are black.

By cherry picking the rarer instances, you can give the false impression that the rare example is the most common one, or vice versa.
