There is always a distribution of attributes within all scales of people. Africa is Africa because the kind of person that lives there now was more successful than others in that area's distribution. Human evolution doesn't always yield the best. Darwin said that evolution drives the best to prevail. Best needs a huge asterisk. It's not that simple.

NO. Darwin never said any such thing. Find Dixon's novel "The Clansman" and you will find it there, verbatim as it appears in the meme.

It's not a fuck up. It's fraud. No one knows who Thomas Dixon was except those who read "The Clansman" (which is actually a pretty good novel). But everyone knows who Charles Darwin was. It's pretty common to take an existing, powerful quote from someone no longer remembered and attribute it to someone with some authority.

This happens quite a lot, and it's why you have to check the attribution in memes carefully. You can't take them at face value. The one OP posted is accurate. But there are idiots like Charles Huppenthal, who actually did attribute Darwin to Dixon's quote.
