When the corona shit got crazy, I did the shopping for a couple months. She drew me a map of the grocery and aisles and where everything was located on the shelves. Anything less and I would have returned with half the stuff we needed.

I say this quite seriously. I find supermarket-shopping stressful although in my wife's view I've become much better. In my case the main problem is my wife. There is no margin for error where she's concerned but she expects me to know her mind so that when her lists are inadequate (and the list in the photo is one of the better ones) I'm meant to fill in the gaps. Sometimes the items aren't there and I need to use my discretion: "do I buy the substitute" (dangerous ground). What I've found overall is I need to be so careful when purchasing an item because people put items in the wrong places. So...if the shelf-label says "shaved parmesan cheese" don't just reach for the packet without also reading it because it could be a lookalike "grated parmesan cheese". My success rate imo is about 90% now. My wife no longer does the shopping because she refused to get vaccinated against the Covid.

I didn't get married to do the shopping. I hadn't been in years. That's one of the reasons I needed the store map from her. I'm sorry you're in that situation.

Then I explain that if they are unclear I will get whatever they hate. Ask for milk? I come home with almond milk. If you want 2 gallons of the store brand 2% milk, say so.

Very good! Alas my wife would break me with that approach but, yes, it gets infuriating when I'm meant to read her mind and fill in the gaps. Stress kicks in. We now go through the list beforehand but I still manage to get it wrong sometimes. And she doesn't appreciate that the items she lists might have sold out and what am I meant to do then! But my training is paying off but there are tricks with supermarket shopping. You need to be careful. Check seals etc.
