Slightly off tangent but related. My kid's class went to Europe in grade 12. One of her classmates showed up at the airport with 2 huge suitcases, each weighing a tonne. Her family paid a shitload extra to cover the overweight fees.

It turned out the suitcases were filled with ziplock bags full of water, the amount of which the family had calculated the girl would need for the 2 weeks she was over there. This was a family from the upper middle class that somehow managed to get through life believing that water purification technology only existed in America, or something like that.

My kid said the girl did an epic face palm and nearly died of embarrassment when the situation was explained to her while they were unpacking in Paris and everyone saw all the water she was carrying.

Just goes to show... something I guess.

Bottled water, ya ding dong. When you go to 3rd world shitholes, you drink bottled water. It's not complicated.

Jamaica is a 3rd world shit hole and it has excellent fresh water springs all throughout the island, I've drank water right out of the streams and rivers there...the problems arise when the water flows through garbage which is why the populated areas should be avoided...same with Costa Rica and Nicaragua, very good water in the mountains.
