This meme comes up every now and then but as an Australian I rarely actually hear people calling people cunts even among friends. And I have a friend that did call me a cunt once and I almost punched him in the face out of reflex, even though he was not ill intentioned only misguided into thinking it's okay.

There is the occasional "ahh ya cunt" but it's not the same as calling someone a cunt rather it describes something more along the lines of "you have me in a moment of frustration" and is not a direct insult. But even this is rare especially these days.

I get big Reddit vibes from the whole idea of Australians walking around calling each other cunts because it's not based in reality.

If you're not from an immigrant family or an Abo clan you're pretty much either convict decent or guard/aristocracy decent. The frequency of the use of "cunt" is probably correlated.

Anecdotaly I know some pretty high level/important employees that use it all the time outside of work. Different circles and locals I guess.
