My brother lived on an island off the coast of Honduras for a while. Then a hurricane came through and shut the place down. There was no food or water. The US dropped pallets of food and water off for the people. Brother went to get some, but was told it was not for him. Brother even pointed out the US flag stickers all over everything, but the cops wouldn't let him take any.

I kind of sympathize but then again they can go fuck themselves. Mexico is only a country because the US allows it. We kicked the shit out of them and occupied most of their country and then just fucking gave it back. Does that sounds like colonialism to you? We gave you your fucking country.

On the one hand I sympathize. I wouldn't want my area to start turning into LA or have people that won't learn the local language or understand what went in to making the area attractive to them.

On the other hand, to the degree they're allies, having people around with high-paying remote jobs is a good thing. It means they're going to bring lots of useful material (nice hand-me-downs) and jobs (more money seeking the best chefs, au pairs, carpenters, etc.) into the region. It's one thing to have low-IQ feeders moving in and a different thing to have white people moving in.
