I have a question in this regard: Any of you know the feeling of overwhelming joy tinged with sadness? When something is so beautiful, that it breaks your heart? An expression of child-like innocence that is simply too pure and magnificent to have been expressed against the backdrop of the reality of our modern world?

I'm certain there's a word for this and my feeble search skills, such as they are, failed to turn up anything.

I was kind of hoping there was some oddly-specific word for that precise feeling in a specific context, like the Germans do with "hintergedanken" or "schadenfreude" and that's probably as good a fit as I'm likely to find in English.
