Tomorrow I have an appointment that will effectively end my career, because I will not wear a mask. I've tried to avoid this, but now at last I've arrived at my kobayashi maru, and I am feeling very defeated.

It's just a required physical, but if it is not completed I will be pulled out of service permanently.

I called and asked about their mask policy, of course it's still in place three years on. I tried avocating, I tried getting an exemption. Nothing worked. I've tried this same song and dance at FOUR eye doctors offices over this three years of dystopian hell and the answer is always NO. My cataract remains untreated because of it.

I called the "director of quality" for the health network that dictates the policy to the doctor's office in question. It took some doing to get ahold of her, but once I had her on the phone she was very nice, and not unsympathetic. I talked about all the moral, political, and health reasons why masks don't work and aren't right. She didn't attack me for my stance like I'd expected. I said its three years on for this mask thing, its past time to put it to bed. She more or less agreed with me, but she is only one person on a "committee" that decides these things. We talked about the CDC changing its own recommendations, again she agreed, but would only say "the committee is carefully watching this situation".

I opted to play nice. Ok, I don't expect you to change your police just for me, but can you at least get me an exemption. To her credit, she actually tried. At least she said she would make a few phone calls. She called back an hour later, and very politely, very apologetically, told me the answer was still no. No exemptions would be given.

I feel defeated, but caving now was never an option. I said when this started and it became clear that the mask didn't work that I would be dead before I wear one. I meant it then and I still mean it now.

I'm still going to go to the appointment, but I expect to be asked to leave.

I know this board understands that the masks were never about health or safety. They were always about perpetuating fear and beating the people down, to condition them to accept the arbitrary dictates of authority. They are a sign you wear on your face that says "I submit". All under the justification of "saving lives".

Three years on and the mask are gone everywhere except where it matters most, the medical field. Because they can be controlled from the top easier then mom and pop shops. Because they can ruin your health or end your career if you don't bend the knee. Because they know people will do almost anything to keep their health. So the cudgel remains.

Many have said the masks are just shy of the mark of the beast. Take the mark or be drummed out of society. Take the mark or suffer. Back then I'd agreed in part, but only in part.

Today, with my career about to end and my eye still untreated, I think I agree entirely.

So tell me Voat. Now what?

P.S. Don't even get me started on the vax.

Wear a Halloween mask. Tell them they never specified what kind of mask. Then record them refusing service to you.

Having principles is good. If you're willing to die on this hill then you already know the outcome. You've already exhausted all reasonable alternatives without compromise.

So the only things left to do are to die on the hill or make a compromise. If this is a one-off requirement for one whole day, then I personally wouldn't consider you in violation of your principles if you just wore it this one time. (Spirit of the law) but others or yourself will see a single violation of your principles as unforgivable. (Letter of the law).

How it plays out is your decision.

I see two outcomes:

Don't compromise; lose your job, have eye issues, gain the temporary rapport of your peers here, know in your bones that you heldfast-- no matter the cost.

Compromise; keep your job, fix your eye, receive temporary muted to negative rapport with your peers here, kick yourself in the ass bending the knee.

Whatever you decide, keep your mouth shut about it. No one here will give a shit about you or what you did or didn't do in 5 years. You live with it.

I held out for as long as I could in NY, almost beat the shit out of some pony tailed faggot who went and told management on me in the grocery store for not wearing a mask, it was a big scene when I confronted him. After that situation played out and a couple minor arguments at different stores weeks later I decided to wear a GD mask. I bought a super thin mask that is completely transparent when held up to the light just to get rid of the guaranteed conflict that was going to lead to assault charges at some point. I get where OP coming from though, for some of us that line in the sand is at the vaxx, for others it’s at the mask. Either way it’s safe to say none of us should comply with any of their Jewish edicts. The amount of doctors in hospital during peak covid that would take off their masks willy nilly was larger than most believe. Some would "forget" & apologise... also got a bunch who told me to put on my mask to remove theirs because I am (legitimately) hearing impaired and need to read lips to understand properly.

But I'll never forget the specialist trained NICU nurse crying because she, like every other nurse in the hospital, had to take shifts in COVID ward and then when that stint was over had to go straight back to her regular NICU shifts with no isolation period u like people had to who went to a shop hours after a covid infected person was there then had to isolate for two weeks.

They doctors and nurses all must know it's bullshit, and that makes them all the worse people for playing along.

Interesting. I think your idea just may have legs. It's a long shot. But as I said, this mask mandate was never really about health, it was always about compelling compliance. This is mark of the beast territory, and that is very much religious territory. Refusing the mask could seen has rejecting the beast. If what you say is true, they may not legally be able to refuse me on those grounds.

BUT, the girls behind the desk would have to know AND care about not violating my religious rights... and that's a big ask.

I'm not a lawyer and I could be completely wrong. Its my understanding that religious arguments make for a much stronger case and your employer is entering a mine field if they fire you for relgious beliefs. I personally believe the official covid narrative, the masks and the injection are all demomonic and a manifestation of the mark described within the Bible. To accept such a mark, or comply with such a demnonic mandate is a sin against god and a violation of sincerely held religious beliefs. Make sure this is in writing

I "survived" it just like I "survived" pricking my finger with a needle or stubbing my toe one a door jamb. It's not something anyone this side of a coffin is likely to die from.

Wearing masks brings other risks, like increasing the risk of bronchitis. There's also the issue that surgical masks are designed to redirect exhalations away from a patient into a ventilation system. If you're not in a surgical theatre then you're just redirecting exhalations into the people beside/behind you.

The whole thing is a cargo cult. It's similar to the security theatre TSA go through: Looks like it's achieving something without actually delivering results.

What skills do you have to exploit? Make a portfolio showcasing your work. Get past HR by asking for a meeting with the Hiring manager. Ask them about what they do in this field and once they get engaged show them what you've done and how you might be able to help them improve their operation.

This will fail often, but as you get better at selling your skills you'll have opportunities to get people singing your praises to other companies. It snowballs quickly if you are good at what you do and keep pushing.

I don't know what field you work in, but this is probably not the true end of the road. The best thing I ever did for my life was start my own small business many years ago. I designed a business model around myself and my life goals, and have tirelessly executed my plans with commitment and passion, and it's worked. I don't know if this is something you think you could do, it's not something I was sure I could do when I started down this path, but if you think you could do it, then perhaps you ought to try.

Owning my own business has given me freedom. It's a lot of work, but it has always been worth it, and has afforded me a lifestyle I enjoy, and that has the flexibilty I want and need in order to live the way I want. Because of all this, I was able to move out of a dystobian shithole of a city/state to a free(er) state in a "city" and county that doesn't give a shit about masks or social distancing, or any of that bullshit. I moved here taking a lot of factors into consideration, demographics, crime rates, cost of living, firearms freedoms, weather, realestate options, market research for my business, culture, blah blah blah, but very importantly, I saw how this place responded to the (((pandemic))), by barely responding at all, and figured this was a pretty safe place.

The one sector here, despite this area's very high liberty quotient, that still mandated masks was the medical world... until somewhat recently. I knew this county would shed bullshit tyrannical mandates, like masks, before others, based on it's history of saying "fuck this garbage", and I'm a little surprised it took this long, but now it is all officially over.

I don't know where you live, but maybe it's time to move. And maybe it's time to claim yourself some independence and start your own business, one where only you set the rules.

Reschedule the appointment and take a few vacation days. Travel wherever you need to go to get your physical without a mask. It shouldn't matter where you get medical treatment from a licensed Dr. Any follow ups needed just take more PTO and take care of it. If they say no you must use our Dr's that's probably when you can sue them, especially if you've met the requirements of testing.

If you're just going to some physician's office to get a physical, wear the mask. You're not caving. This is the world we live in and you don't get anywhere without playing their game to some extent.
