Bald and Bankrupt found something close to this somewhere in mid Russia. The real life version was a whole family raking hay out in a field, and plainly living a fairly simple life.

The downside is you'd have to learn Russian, and the language of their ethnic group that I believe starts with a K. Russian villages out in the hinterlands can be pretty 'down to earth' (poor) and their extensive gardens provide much of their food.

The Northmen channel (if it still exists) was about people who were/are sort of pioneers in northern Russia, who dedicate themselves to keeping traditions alive, and practicing their religion apart from the state.
