It's COULDN'T care less. COULD care less implies care on some level. Why do so many people have a hard time with this one? Annoys me more than it should.

The use of 'per say' instead of per se, when it means something like 'as a matter of linguistic convention' rather than what per se actually means. . .

The overuse of the term 'basically'

In general, I get really frustrated by 'Twitter speak', which apparently means you can write without any considerations for spelling, and punctuation is optional. The Ye tweets were a good, recent example. You might be saying something worthwhile, but when it's an ungrammatical string full of spelling errors, you give someone good initial grounds to just ignore you. It doesn't take that long to make well-formed sentences. The couple of seconds and thumb strikes required are worth the investment.

You won't do nothing irritates me because that means you'll do something. It's not just blacks in USA who do this, you'll find working class people in England doing it too. My personal bugbear is "Begs the question". This is a legal term and has a very specific meaning yet everyone uses it to mean "makes one want to ask the question". Even respected authors use it. Just stop, okay?

Even single words are not exempt. "Ironic" for example, which, thanks to that miserable song, now means coincidence. Irony is what happens when the opposite to what is expected takes place. The literary term "artistic irony" is more in line with Alanis Morissette's song.

"Couldn't care less" = Means you're either already at the bottom of the care scale OR that you actually can't afford to care less and you must care.
"Could care less" = Means you don't care about sustaining your position on the care scale, presumably you could care infinitely less or to a point where you "couldn't care less" anyway.
