This is an effect called emergence. Communication of a bunch of separate nodes (humans, cells) grants the resulting system abilities which are simply not applicable to the individual parts of the system, even if in the same volume. This is why Peterstein wants you to be disorganised - he and his handlers are afraid of the power you would gain otherwise. It is one of the most beautiful effects I've ever witnessed in my life.

I like to think that human consciousness emerges from communication between neurons in the same manner.

I once found some of this stuff growing out of a brick wall and tried to save it in the jar so I could play with it but I could never get it to reactivate. But the stuff was so yellow when it was living on the brick wall and it looked like somebody had painted that yellow Street marker road paint
