I've seen this done intentionally. Tripple laminated glass paine, and the middle one is hit on edge, causing it to shatter making pretty patterns.

Actually, these are sandwiched pieces of glass, and they break the internal piece for aesthetics.

Kind of makes sense... But it also means that you might not notice one of the outside panes is busted until you slice yourself on it. Though maybe the outside ones are lexan.

Better he broke it now then when a kid ate shit down the stairs. When I was a kid in the 70’s, our stairs made a turn, and we would play a game where my older brother tried to hold the landing while me and my other brothers would attack him and try to claim the property. I got throw down the stairs a thousand times. If it was glass, I would have had nothing to grab to stop my roll. Little kids need wooden bannisters to grab, or they will never take the high ground.. the old ways are better.

I would leave it. Buy clear wrap for a car and wrap it and leave it. Looks cool and safe that way
