It's cool that you look after him like that, but after what happened with the Ahmed Arbury trial, it probably wouldn't hurt to occasionally remind your dad that the system has also changed with the times and to make calling you and his attorney the first things he does before speaking with the police after a self-defense situation.
Hopefully he doesn't live someplace where they would try to crucify him on the altar of social justice, but you never can be too careful.
