I've heard it said ... and it does seem reasonable to me ... that the downtown areas being hollowed-out is part of the long-term plan to rebuild them with high-density housing and then force every out of suburbia and the rural areas back into the cities. Supporting evidence presented for this is the amount of money the Parasite Federal and State governments are pumping into housing in these areas where the demand has currently dried up.

Very sad. Literally makes me a little sick. I am out in the burbs of LI today and that is decaying, as well, but not as rapidly. The “This Is What They Took From You” meme is so appropriate. I remember much more wholesome times and that can still be found out here. I was in an IHOP earlier and even though the staff was 100% Latino and the neighborhood is 99% White, the place is still not a dump and you can see 20 years of little league plaques on the wall and a real sense of community and belonging. The cities are complete dog shit.
