I have not thought about this video until you just posted it again. Quality save.

I still remember tearing up during the original posting of this.

Turd needs to edit this so after the wave it says "niggerfaggot" or "fuck off, we're full"

Holy fuck, I remember this! Nostalgic for an old forum now.

Sad day.

I don't understand sentimentalizing a loss like this. The goodbye message about "sacrificing voat on the cross" on Christmas was kind of fucked up and disrespectful too, I'm shocked that not a single Christian took issue with that. I may argue strongly against aspects of Christianity but I don't pretend to be a Christian while mocking y'all like that, and especially wouldn't do so along with such heavy news.

And the bullshit story about being out of money and then just ignoring all the goats asking how much is needed and offering to donate?

It was fucking weird and doesn't make sense.

And the occasion was one of losing something worthwhile. I don't celebrate loss. It's like during 2020 when you would see bizarre clips sentimentalizing grandma sick with family on the other side of plexiglass. I might take a somber moment to remember certain losses like a familial death or a sacrifice that was difficult but necessary for something important, but I certainly wouldn't do that for getting my home repossessed or getting beat up or something comparable to what happened with old voat.

I just don't understand the mindset.

That's like, your opinion, man. For others, it was sentimental.

E: "... and especially wouldn't do so along with such heavy news."

Just to be clear, PuttItOut made it known in advance when he was shutting it down. It was not a surprise.

Also, I agree with the bullshit money issue. I figure he was just tired of dealing with us assholes and potential legal issues.

That part doesn't really bother me. Even if it was a surprise it doesn't seem weird like the rest of it.

I understand what you're saying. I don't see it as celebrating a defeat though. The victory was in how long Old Voat lasted. Remember how many times it would go down, and then seem to miraculously come back up? It was like a Rocky movie or something almost comical like that.

Besides that, the Voat community, as in the actual people who participated on Old Voat, weren't defeated. We were resilient and still exist in creative ways spread around the decentralized parts of the internet. And now some of us are on Talk, so...I miss those days more than I miss the actual website. That's the point of the post to me.

Well said.

Idk I guess I get where you're coming from. The expression of it just feels so off and undignified to me.

Sheep live to follow, trust and worship.
True Christ followers are not triggered by satans minions of hate and division.
Patriot is one controlled by religion or government.
Millennials are the problem, the kids they bear prove it

it was a "merry christmas, goyim" kind of thing. Right before this they tried to get users to take a pic holding a sign that said: "fuck censorship" with a promise of 30 days free israeli VPN. I think year 3 Voat was bought and many old user name accounts taken over. Crensch and Srayzie were jews sent to destroy Voat through division and it worked. I tried to stop it.

What an interesting saga that was...

It's a shame too, because PIA was actually great. It probably still is. I was bummed about Kape owning PIA because I had recently renewed a subscription too.
