There's a point of diminishing returns when you set something to kill everything that moves. Even if you don't care about the units shooting at civilians, animals or attacking friendly units, that's fine. But they still have limited ammo. If you send in a squad of these DARPA bots and they waste their rounds on non-threat targets, the party won't last very long.

Their tech worship started way back when electricity was invented. It's old fucks in the control seats who grew up without computers that can't put tech in proportion and see it for what it is. A huge chunk of tech isn't just useless and stupid but an impediment to life and systems.
