I joked with my dad if my phone was searched in Germany I'd be in jail for over a million years not sure what the deal in Ireland is? Might be a good time for a new phone anyways way to many pictures on the old phone should take what I want from it and just store the rest or something
I think before you're traveling to any of these countries these days it's smart to buy a burner phone and just take a burner phone with no information on it with you and leave your regular phone at home. And then put any emergency numbers you might need in your burner phone and just pay cash for cash phone cards buy your burner phone with cash don't use a credit card or anything so it's not track to you and then you can create another Google account to be the account for that phone so it's not linked to your regular account.
They're just too many unknowns these days Crossing borders with information or even coming back into the United States with your own information.
Take a little written book with you of some phone numbers if you don't want to put certain phone numbers in your phone and you could also upload any information you might need to a web page or an encrypted zip file on some online Google drive type thing so if you really need to get some information you would know where to go to download it on to your burner phone.

As other's said, the burner phone is the correct answer. This should be obvious nowadays, but even if you "delete" the material, it is still recoverable.
First of all that takes an incredible amount of effort. To attempt.
Second you can't really remove it all.
Third when you come back to United States you're going to want all that stuff and it's going to be almost impossible to put it back in the same usable state that it was.
4th of burner phone at the grocery store cost $20. Then you can buy yourself a cash card to fill it up with minutes for 20 or 30 more dollars. And you can buy as many of those as you want in any country you go to.
Now I don't know what your time is worth but the 8 to 10 hours it's going to take to actually try to get most of the stuff off of your phone which will not work anyway is probably a lot harder than just paying the cash to get a burner phone at your grocery store.
Needless to say don't use your grocery store discount card to get a little discount on the phone and don't use your credit card to get the phone. Use cash.
