That car was designed for a time when it was mostly White men that bought cars. My grandfather use to tell me about going to the dealership for a work truck and he settled on an El Camino, but my grandma was with him and fell in love with the Monte Carlo. He bought both cash for 7,000 out the door. That El Camino had 300,000 miles on it when he sold it. We use to take a ride when he got sick of grandma's shit and wanted to smoke a cigar.

Fuck, I miss that guy.

Monte Carlo

The first car I bought was one of those. Shitty paint, huge fuckin' engine, didn't need the heater 'cause the engine/tranny would heat the interior... Good shit.

Those old Monte Carlos were bad to the bone. Pops had good taste with the El Camino though. He was a Union brick layer. I don't mean to get sentimental, but I was with him when he had the stoke that killed him at 89 years old. He had seven kids and 25 grandkids, can't even tell you how many great grandchildren at the time of his death. He was an awesome dude, I spent a lot of time with him in his last few years.
He died two days after my father died, and two months after my God Father. I lost all my strong male role models in a span of months. Kind of a wake up call. No more advice, Perry. If you don't have it figured out yet you never will.

You had more of a solid background of male role-models than most folks to today.

Be the change you want to see, it's up to you now. Good luck.

You rode around with a hot tranny? I knew it.

[ - ] BoozyB 1 point 2.4 yearsFeb 12, 2023 11:35:35 ago (+1/-0)

That was a time when "blowing a tranny" meant something totally different than it does today.

That's the one I was thinking about!!

Old diesel trucks can survive a modern major war.

Not one modern vehicle will.

My next vehicle I've decided is going to be at least thirty years old.

I've been watching Station 19 (Fire Fighter spin off of Grey's Anatomy doctor drama) and while it is very woke, it has some hilarious unintentionally based moments.

I don't know if it's based per se or just reality but there have been a few electric car fires where they all have to be worried about toxic smoke, and the battery fire reigniting after being put out.

"We have to put it out, it's [smoke from the fire] making the air toxic!"

"Stand down [Latina fire fighter], even the manufacturer says we have to let it burn itself out."

Also a teen and his girlfriend nearly died from the toxic smoke in that episode because he had stolen his dads electric car and neither him nor the fire fighters could locate the hidden emergency door handle/latcher/whatever and the car had no power due to the fire and because everything is electric including the doors they weren't able to open it via the door handle from the inside or out and had to break into the car.

So they appear to be environmentally toxic death traps.

My favorite car was my rust free 1955 Chevy 2-dr Belair. Cars before 1970 were great.

[ - ] zongongo 0 points 2.4 yearsFeb 12, 2023 18:37:59 ago (+0/-0)

Had a 63 Belair four door , my previous car.
Treated me better than any other car I ever had. 8-9 years = two water pumps and break drums all around. That was it for 8 years.
2000 dollars on Ebay motors !!
I'm absolutely sold on older cars. Currently drive an 84 BMW 318i 4 cyl. It's not as old or dependable as the Chevy but fun to drive.
That Lincoln in the pic would cost a fortune!

Absolutely beautiful.

What make/model is that? To me it looks like a 98 regency Oldsmobile. Late 60s or early 70s. A friend of mine had one, it had a 455 "rocket" engine in it.

[ - ] peety 0 points 2.4 yearsFeb 12, 2023 11:29:13 ago (+0/-0)

whitewalls on that doesn't quite look right. i'm partial to anything mopar in the 60's especially if it has one of those from the factory 'not street legal' stickers on the rear window.

This is one of my favorite exhibits they had at the Frist:

As shitty as they look, shitboxes are a lot safer than glorified coffins on wheels.

The modern world is too safe. Women who crash should feel the consequences

There's very little difference in looks between the Teslas and everything else made nowadays. When you're forced to optimize aerodynamics there are only so many solutions to streamlining.

TBF the Cybertruck isn't going to be very plastic, or plastic looking.

BOooooOMER!!!!!!!!!! We cant have nice thinhs like this anymore because your generation shipped all the manufacturing to china in the quest for lower prices. Faggot.

[ - ] GrayDragon 0 points 2.4 yearsFeb 12, 2023 07:50:36 ago (+1/-1)

No, dipshit. It is because of government regulations. Have you done anything to stop the government? I didn't think so.

I completely stopped paying my federal taxes in 2001. Get on my boomer level, you young'un. You are the problem. You just want others to do your dirty work.

[ - ] HeyJames [op] -1 points 2.4 yearsFeb 12, 2023 11:49:53 ago (+0/-1)

You're very confused. Cars in the late 70s and early 1980s were shit piles. They were all made in America. You should ask yourself why you're so retarded.

[ - ] RMGoetbbels 0 points 2.4 yearsFeb 12, 2023 01:43:23 ago (+0/-0)

I love those 2-3 years(?) when the body was square and the doors opened liked blondes.

[ - ] Thyhorrorcosmic103 1 point 2.4 yearsFeb 12, 2023 05:13:56 ago (+1/-0)

My friend found one with the suicide doors for $600 about 10 years ago. The paint was bad but no rust and the body and frame were straight. I was so jealous.
