I am just surprised a white guy showed up for your free appliances. I met one guy who fixed washing machines, but he was a nigger. Wypipo seem to have the kind of appliances you pay to move rather than sell to the next tenant for 200 bucks.

What bummed me out was that he SCRAPPED them for 13 cents a pound, lol...they were all working, and maybe 10 years old. But they had to go. I have no place to store and sell them.

I usually leave stuff on the curb and call the city. The city takes 2 wks to pick up. I put a note on working stuff, and it usually disappears. I live in a city so there are pickers that will take stuff you leave outside.

Sometimes I will craigslist something for free, but often that just results in annoying phone calls (can you reserve that for me? No... its on the curb and i dont know who you are. The first person to come take it I am not going to argue with them...)

I wish I had a speed queen or an old maytag or something. Modern washer dryers suck and they are expensive. Which is somehow justified by -- i shit you not-- the idea that women can reach into them better

Around here people come around and cut all the cords off (especially vacuum cleaners) to scrap the copper. What a waste of something that worked.

Something like that happened to me a while back. I had a well-cared-for Trinitron CRT I put up for free. Was happy to give it a new home. Until he said he was scrapping it (and other smaller one). Bummed me out. Now I only have LCDs for the PC.

There was a time, and that time my come around again, when my little family was strapped for cash in a bad way. Medical bills from a wreck you see.
Anyway, I gathered metal from anywhere I could get it so that we could scrap it to help pay the bills. I was very grateful for every piece of metal I could get. When a family member or friend needed an appliance I didn't have the heart to sell them anything, I would just give it to them.
Don't be bummed about it pal. You might have just kept the electricity on for that guy and his family! That's a good day man.
