From one perspective, him being conscious and aware of his own behavior has worse long term consequences for him than any downvoats or mean replies.

If you really dislike him, give him just enough encouragement to maintain that persona that's putting irreparable scars on his soul. He would likely scoff at the idea, but imagine being that person and the effects over time.
