I made it to customizing the OS, realized it was a waste of time, and just stuck with Linux Mint to skip all the distro hopping and inevitable troubleshooting that creates. I like it because it's not Windows and everything else is irrelevant.

I lost the friends and family anyway, they all use apple/windows.

I'll just stick to Manjaro. Had my fill of building up OSes back when I used to fuck around with FreeBSD.

Inevitably, something gets critically borked and you spend the next two days going clean slate.

Manjaro is the best "it just works" distro I've found as well, after years of distro hopping. Still try others occasionally, but everything else just feels clunky and half-baked by comparison. At least for desktop daily drivers. Servers and other specialized purposes are a different story.

Agreed. That's what drew me to Arch-based distros, without the headache of Arch proper. Server hosting best left to distros with more stable/periodic release cycles. Then there's the systemd can of worms. I have no dogs in that fight.

Vegetarians. Users of Gentoo, Linux From Scratch, or any BSD are far worse than Archies. High rates of troons in those communities as well.
