My portside lazarette hatches are heavily damaged by the weather and my own negligence, to be fair. Also I have cockpit drainage issues, among other things, but I am drinking bourbon aboard, to help me come up with solutions, despite the lack of financial ability to purchase materials.

Interesting the "migrant" knew to dial 911, the emergency number only in the USA. I know other countries emergency number formats are similar but none the same. I wouldn't have any idea what to dial in another country. Almost like they're taught.
I would default to trying emergency vhf channels in foreign ports... and there would most likely be no help to be had. Shoot, jettison, and stfu, I guess.
