Mechanical engineers poke fun at civil engineers their field is easy because nothing moves. Good on them civ engineers to prove the mech engineers wrong :P

This would be the work of construction engineering, not civil.
Civil engineers plans roads and canals and dams.

Incorrect. It would be the work of a structural engineer which is a type of civil engineer. "Construction engineers" isn't a real certification just a job title in which they would need to be registered as a professional engineer with the civil designation. They are fully licensed civil engineers that typically work as resident engineers on a job site or boots on the ground type roles. Structural is a sub branch of civil. In my state at least. The video you are looking at is the work and calculation of a structural engineer...one who is feverishly checking his notes and calculations right now 🤣

My brother has a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering, it's not a certificate.
He builds Bridges and other large scale structures.
This is fact, not opinion.

your brother cant stamp plans with a degree retard...what's his license say?

[ - ] Indoctrinated_USA 1 point 2.1 yearsMar 14, 2023 18:51:11 ago (+1/-0)*

I don't see why you have to be an asshole...
I told you what his degree was, I told you what he did for a living.
He is explicitly NOT a civil engineer, he corrected me about that once, but I don't know what his certificate says.
We don't speak often anymore.
We have divergent perspectives on, well, everything.
I know there are only like six companies in the US that do the type of work he does.

I have to be an asshole because you are trying to win an argument on a subject that you don't know anything about beyond "Muh estranged brother has degree" . He corrected you that he isn't a civil because he is not a professional engineer with a license. To say "I'm a civil engineer" implies licensure and is illegal to advertise without said licensure. Any "large bridge" he has built has either been unpermitted or stamped by a structural engineer with a license. The reason these licenses exist is so retards don't go out building bridges that aren't safe. Next time instead of getting triggered cause you got corrected just say thanks for the info and move on. That's why I have to be an asshole.

You're an asshole because you think you know what my brother is and what he does and you're attacking my lack of professional knowledge to strongarm a point that you are fucking wrong about.

He IS a professional engineer.
He does large scale work.
He is one of the senior engineers at his company.
And no, you cock, just because I can't argue his CV doesn't mean you have a fucking point.

WHO ENGINEERED MY DICK THIS THING CRAY CRAY N SUPPORT MAD WEIGHT

[ - ] AugustineOfHippo2 4 points 2.1 yearsMar 14, 2023 11:55:29 ago (+4/-0)

I believe that is intentional. Interesting that when things are too rigid, they can also be brittle and break easier. Parking garages have the same "bounce" to them.

[ - ] TheYiddler 2 points 2.1 yearsMar 14, 2023 12:14:03 ago (+2/-0)

Not quite. Some materials show stain when under load and this makes it easier to catch failure before it is catastrophic. They aren't necessarily stronger because of that.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 -1 points 2.1 yearsMar 14, 2023 13:44:25 ago (+0/-1)

Yeah, if this were intentional it would be internal with a facade to cover such movement so that panicky idiots bouncing around wont riot.

Not necessarily true. You want stuff visible so you can inspect it.

Also, if that much bounce was out of the structure's engineering spec, causing permanent deformation, thanks to that video I bet it would've been condemned shortly afterwards.

All buildings grow, shrink and sway. So does air pressure in your tires.

- so long as they don't pivot. pivot is bad.

Diversity hires will soon put an end to this.

Good to see the stadium is seismic certified. A very German job.

[ - ] RMGoetbbels 0 points 2.1 yearsMar 14, 2023 15:47:09 ago (+0/-0)

Engineers are people who fuck everything up and think they did it right no matter how many times you show them what they fucked up.

At least they aren't butt pirates like architects though. That's as nice as I can be about engineers, they aren't butt pirates.....mostly.

[ - ] bobdole9 0 points 2.1 yearsMar 14, 2023 23:51:36 ago (+0/-0)

What do architects drive now that Saab is gone?
