I don't own a smart-phone and don't particularly want one but I will buy one if it means I can use this device but apparently I can still use the device by installing a TF Card.

So...do you think I've got it clear what's involved:

1. I use the device with a TF card purchased with the item.
2. I buy a TF adapter that enables me to transfer data on the TF card to my desktop PC via a USB cable.

Might be better off trying to get something smaller and battery powered - easier to disguise and won't take the place of a light bulb.

Those are all over Amazon for about $25. The real problem with all these is they all connect to your Wi-Fi and they send your pictures back to their servers and then you have to use a phone to look at their servers to see the pictures inside wherever you place the camera. All those companies are making money by selling interior pictures of your home and giving them to whoever legally asked for them. It's very hard to find one of these cheap cameras that are Wi-Fi cameras that does not send your pictures to their internet server farm. Even if the camera does record locally on the SD card in the camera it is still going to send your pictures to their server.

For security the best option is to have a system of cameras hooked up to a central computer in your attic or a hidden closet that has no wifi/blutooth ability that you connect to a remote keyboard/mouse/monitor system. But that's expensive and takes a lot of handyman work that you need to do for yourself, also for security reasons.

How does the camera in your link compare to these? Given the level of marketing hype, I'm guessing they have a good pad over the cost from the Chinese Mfg.

Thanks for that. They are cheap. Not sure what shipping cost would be [Edit: just saw "free shipping"]but it's got me thinking because I used AliExpress once for a cheap bike tool ($3) and it took a long time to get here but it did. So might try out one of these items.

I've recently ordered from both aliexpress and temu. A week was the fastest. 3 weeks for the slowest. But you have to look at each listing, because some can take up to 2 months. I suspect those are just "some chinese guy" trying to make some $, with no popular product or business skills.

But if you're looking for a set of 10 bottle/tube brush cleaners in a range of sizes for $1.98 with free shipping...

I've read some reviews of some of these and they say that they can move and stay focused on a wall instead of what it should be looking at. Make sure it works.

I'd get a cam that can connect to the internet. That way if someone breaks in you can have the video even if they steal the camera. If the video is saved on the camera then if they steal the camera the video is gone.

Buy one that has automatic IR. And I don't know if all IR has a red light that shines.

If you have any lights that are on the cam then when the cam is placed behind a piece of glass all you will see is a bright light on video and nothing else. Note in the picture you posted where the camera is below the glass. That's because if it was behind the glass and a light turns on you will only see lights on glass and nothing else.

Its smart. The hardest part is wiring power. Even POE is a PIA.

I wouldn't put it in the internet though, if it has that capability Definitely a future botnet streaming of neighborhoods in the near dystopian future.

In that case Ignore the cameras bragging about resolution. Look at frames per second, get the one you want, and then just buy the below adapter so you can use any preferred camera instead of a chinamans toy.

Yes I will give a product review. I had an intruder the other night but he tripped (literally) my rudimentary burglar alarm that worked a treat - a tiny rusty can placed in a strategic spot. Boy does it make a noise when it rolls over the concrete floor.
