I am getting concerned about a dollar collapse in the next 10 years. What do I need to know?

submitted by MaryXmas to whatever 2.2 yearsApr 4, 2023 13:44:51 ago (+8/-0)     (whatever)

Also, any recommendations on food prepping? I was thinking to just get a variety of the buckets and a few cases of 3600 cal bars. Have water filters, chemicals, lighters, heat, firearms, ammo, livestock, and a water source on site.

Goats can stay for free. But not too long.

10 years? man, i'm thinking less than 2 years.

problem with food prepping with those buckets/bars is that it eventually runs out. it is good for emergencies, but not a long term strategy.

you need:
1. garden for veg
2. source of meat
-----chicken or jumbo-quail for eggs and/or meat
-----rabbits for meat
3. source of clean water
4. secure living quarters
5. cleanliness (germs are definitly your enemy)

after that, you could invest in gold and/or silver. i've looked into bitcoin, and am just not completely convinced it is a good investment.

Lead.

Guns and ammo are always a good investment. And you're gonna need a lot of ammo. Even if it's just for personal practice, you're gonna use a lot eventually.

And land. If you can spend your money, spend it on land with water and woods, if at all possible. That makes everything else easier, assuming you have the people to protect said land.

I'm thinking a bit more like 15 years, before everything gets just terrible enough to become critical mass, where an extreme opposite reaction occurs, allowing repair to hypothetically begin... unless communists win again.

invest in precious metals such as lead and brass.

Booze and guns will always be profitable commodities.

As is booze and guns.

Booze more so when SHTF. People get super drunk all the time when shit gets dark.

Its also required for the "cleanliness" part when you cant get soap from the store. Goes a long way disinfecting dirty water too.

I think we are going to see dollar devaluation in the shorter terms as risks pile up around the dollar’s status as reserve currency with the brick countries (and japan) doing gas purchases in other currencies. Why this matters is right now when we printed dollars, we just devalue the debt everyone currently holds agains us. If we lose reserve status then when we print dollars our currency actually loses value to foreign energy commodities. So look for prices going up on things. I dont see a collapse more that things look like they do in other countries such as higher energy prices, etc.

I think the best protection against that is don’t hold dollars and make the money you have go further by being more self sustainable to buffer against rising costs and recession that will come as the country rebalances to the new reality.

You need to invest in self-sufficiency, cooperation with neighbors, and lastly stockpiles of resources that can be hard to come by post-collapse.

- Self sufficiency so you can grow your own food for the most part, and perhaps specialize in producing something you can trade for.
- Cooperation with a community is key, they will have things you didn't think of, be prepared to trade, barter, and otherwise work as a group to be a cohesive community.
- Stockpiling resources, although a smart thing to do, is likely the least important in the long run, unless you stock pile enough until death. Things to stock pile should also include tools for manual labor, building supplies, repair materials, and resources for preservation of food and other harvestable.

The key take away is a White community cares for its own, while a white community will collapse quickly. Be right, join with the White.

When everything was closing due to covid, with 12 hours to go, I went to the supply store one last time... there was plenty of butane, chain tackle, animal feed, siphons, pumps, wire, oil, grease, etc. Even on sale. Needless to say, I didn't have any trouble with the covid irritation but the point is, most people have their priorities in the wrong place.

Absolutely right, stock piling toilet paper while ignoring so many basic needs for survival. What we witness here is child-like thinking, from adults, thrashing about because it's all they are capable of doing this far into their life.

[ - ] RedBarchetta 2 points 2.2 yearsApr 4, 2023 18:57:17 ago (+2/-0)

Look at the collapse of the USSR. Read about that. Look at what the most successful items were.

Toilet Paper
Booze
Soap
Cigarettes'

The last may not be as valuable, who knows, people take up bad habits when the shit goes awol.

It happens really fast. You just wake up one day and there are zero jobs available and every house has a for sale sign on it.

When the currency collapses, cops will take your stuff.

If you have reserves in foreign currencies in digital accounts, those companies will steal it. Check their terms of service.

Just remember, 1,000rnds of .223 weighs 35lbs, canned food and cookware is about 10lbs, change of clothing, rope, axe, pack shovel and 20x20 tarp is about 15lbs, knee high rubber boots, rain wear and assorted tool kit is about 10lbs....and water is 10lbs per gallon...which you will consume in two days providing you don't get overworked....and don't forget your matches unless you're proficient with the friction method of starting a fire.

Stay near water sources so you can filter it via a fox hole and wait for it to settle particulate to the bottom. And/or if we are going the route of carrying a bunch of equipment, carry water filtration, which weighs almost nothing.

Just be sure to back flow at the end to clean the inlet from the dirty water side.

While out hiking on some multi-day treks with the wife we had 3L bladders in our packs, and this unit full of clean and dirty water, and were thankful we did because water can become difficult to come by depending on your region.
