The flatter in your video said "8 inches per mile squared". That's a parabola formula, not a ball formula. When you use the correct formula the sight distances match reality.

Incorrect. A parabola isn't formulated by 8 inches per mile squared. In mathematics, a parabola is a plane curve which is mirror-symmetrical and is approximately U-shaped. Care to show how 8 inches per mile squared formulates a symmetrical U shape?

Scale doesn't matter. If you are on a ball, the horizon is then geometric and would never ramp up to eye level. Especially upon increasing altitude.
