Almost every morning for a long, long time I go into my living room with my coffee and sit in my chair and look out my windows and watch all the birds and other animals that come into my feeder. I stop and sit there for a few minutes throughout the day at different times if I am home and taking a little break. These fuckers are on a schedule like clockwork. About 7-9am all the beautiful little finches come in. They vary in colors. They're fast & busy. Then doves come in for about an hour along with a squirrel or two. They do not give a fuck and usually bully each other and all the other birds, including Blu jays and robins. Woodhens usually come in when they do for whatever reason.
Then the ravens/crows come in. Birds/squirrels generally stay away while they're there. They usually only stay for about 20-30 minutes. Then throughout the day cow turd birds come in and many other different birds. Then at night flying squirrels get their feel. They are fast little bastards. They look like lizards crawling around on the tree that I have my feeder attached to. Then about 11-midnight up to three coons come in. Why a coon would wanna eat bird food I will never know, but they do. They usually piss me off because they bang on my feeder hard so I sneak out the door with a headlamp on and shoot them with a BB gun. When they hear it they clear out because their asses have been stung before. Then the next morning, I grab my coffee and head on out into the living room, sit down in my chair and watch for a little while.
There's a walnut tree in the front yard of a guy here on my usual dog-walk route. The dog loves watching the squirrels and birds when we go past. I'm rather thankful for it, as it keeps the fuckers away from my house, as does the dog.
Squirrels are cute and all right up until you find them destroying your house/property.
This would have been so much of a cooler story if you started it with "I grab my coffee and head on out into the living room, sit down in my chair and watch for a little while."
Possums I generally leave alone because you want them on your property because they eat a lot of snakes and ticks and they are usually chill. Now I had one get on my nerves several years back and I did trap him and took his ass across town.

much better than tv and internet. I have birds too in my garden coming to my bird feeder. But only a few types of birds and certainly no squirrels and coons; after all, nature here has been completely taken over by farmers, who do not want competition. But why shoot at them, can't you drive them away with noise or something.
I live right smack dab in the middle of farm country. Its about time for all the Hummingbirds to come. Then Hummingbird wars start on top of everything else. lol I love this time of year when everything starts teeming with life. Everything is starting to get green and I hear more and more birds, frogs and insects outside.
