It is Friday night, and you all know what that means! It is time for the Friday Night Guitar Thread! Where we get to share with and listen to the music of our peers. Any instrument is welcome. Any skill level. We have low standards. Play us a tune, sing us a song, or just sing and dance along.

I am not really here yet. I don't know how much I'll be here tonight. I've had a pretty busy day, dealing with some medical shit. I'll survive, but I'm fuckin' exhausted. It was a long day. I had to drive to pretty much the southern-most tip of Maine, to Portland. I almost booked a hotel and I'm kinda regretting not doing so.

Anyhow, I have nothing new - but I have something unshared here - and not shared all that much. It's one of my favorite songs. I fricken' love this song.

It's a song many of you can sing along with, I hope! So, belt out the lyrics loud enough to offend the neighbors. If they live further way, go outside and belt out the lyrics. Same league. I hadn't watched any games since, but I noticed it was on. They're going into the playoffs already.

Fucked if I know what happened, but DC is still leading the league...

I got a call earlier from a friend asking if I had heard from Verle recently, and she told me that she was talking to him on Monday and he was hinting at ending his life and she has not heard from him since, he doesnt even look at the messages she sends him and doesnt answer his phone, and that's not like him at all. He is a very sociable guy and he would answer when a woman calls him. So she asked if I could get a hold of someone to go do a check on him to see if he is ok, she is worried that he is laying there dead.

So, I try to call him. No answer. I know my girlfriend knows some of the people in that building and maybe she knows their phone number and they could go knock on his door or something. She was gone to help her mother do something so I was waiting for her to come home to ask her to do that when I get a message from another friend

Verle is in the ICU, his son found him on the floor in his apartment at about the time that woman called me earlier about him, not breathing, and he called for an ambulance and did CPR on him until they came and he actually got him breathing.

Apparently Verle overdosed on some percocets that were actually fentanyl, and he vomited and did the Bon Scott thing of inhaling the vomit so now I guess he is unconscious on sedation and antibiotics cause of an infection in his lungs from the vomit.

With her telling me that he was talking like that I wonder if he did that on purpose. I hope I can ask him that

I typed out a long response to this, but the site ate it.

I hit the up arrow, but that was more to show that I read it - not that I liked it.

While I strongly believe in the right to take your own life, he should have known what was in his drugs. If drugs had been legal, he'd have that information and be able to make an informed decision.

They're probably not going to let you visit him in ICU, as you're not a family member. You could lie about that and they'd be unlikely to know the difference. Still, you should be able to visit him once he hits the psyche ward/rehab ward of the hospital.

I just learned that Verle is still unconscious on a ventilator in the ICU and they plan to take him off of it tomorrow and see what happens.

That doesn't sound good. That's not good at all...

I can think of one time when I've known someone who went through that and started breathing on their own again.

So, you might want to hope for the best but anticipate the worst. I wonder why he didn't call you? You'd have found a way over there, I suspect.

Man, I love Fentanyl, but it'll turn a cry for help into a real suicide real quick. People should know what's in their drugs.

I don't think he was really truly suicidal. I know he was complaining to that woman that called me yesterday, but thats due to him having had his money stolen again and probably no beer and cigarettes and not much food.

He probably got those percocets or whatever cause he does live with a lot of pain, I think he was just looking for pain relief while he was waiting for the 3rd to get here again so he has money again.

Though I was thinking that he may come up with some sort of medical issue to go get to stay at the hospital and be waited on by the nurses for a couple days, and be fed and pampered to pass some time until the 3rd. But I was not thinking it would something like this

There's nothing comfortable and easy when you've got O2 being forced into you.

So, if he was doing it for some attention, he's doing it wrong. Ain't nothing nice about being intubated. Seriously...

And, yeah...

I am a bit surprised that they're taking him off it that soon. Usually, as far as I understand, they'll give it a few days.

In the past he has called for an ambulance and had them take him to the hospital cause of breathing problems and then he spent a week up there enjoying the nurses attention. He didn't want to leave.

This is nothing like that. I was hoping he would pull that stunt again, not this!

Glad ya liked it and thanks. I'll survive, at least for the foreseeable future. I'm getting up there in age so I do have an expiration date coming up, but that should be well into the future.

It's just some heart and blood pressure anomalies. They'll figure it out.

Excellent recording! I like these kind of songs because they aren't cluttered up with lots of notes, allowing lyrics and music to be easily comprehended by the listener.

It's a killer song, as far as I'm concerned. It's their best song, I'd say. They've got a few others that are great, but just don't go see them live. They're not great when they're live. I suspect that's due to the many alternative tunings they use.

You're older now, take the time for some sleep/rest during a long trip. Wagon-type vehicles are good for this, as you can sleep in the back and have it all locked up as well.

I'll help get the archives caught up. I've been getting familiar with the process and will start catching up on posting soon.
I have some physical issues, so I haven't produced any content for a long time. All the gear is ready to go, but I need to practice up quite a bit.

Same name, just on Old Voat.co. I have a poal account, but after awhile I found that I liked this place a bit better. I just had to get used to FNGT.gg so I could get started.
I had to take care of my old mother for a long time and couldn't record anything there, living near an airport and she didn't want to hear any music playing. This place is much quieter, but I'll probably have to fight my AC unit making noise. LOL

I actually just picked up a small practice amp that I am running into my main one. The main one was damaged during a move and I was unable to fully repair it, but it will work fine just making the practice amp louder and giving me reverb. Then I will either drop a mic in front of the main amp, or use one of the outputs to record directly to my computer.
Now the real issue is getting my hands to cooperate. Somewhere, over years time, I have acquired neurological damage and hope that playing some tunes will help with the coordination and fine motor skills.

Thats cool. I have a little Marshall practice amp and a first act practice amp that I bolted together into a little mini Marshall stack. I just wired the speaker on the first act on in series with the Marshall speaker, and it sounds great and is plenty loud.

And you just have to make your hands do what they need to. I have broken thumb and broken elbows and I just power through
