Empathy just means you have the ability to understand another person's thoughts and feelings in a situation from their point of view, rather than your own.

Empathy isn't the problem. Tolerance being heralded as a virtue is the problem.

"Tolerance" inherently, in the meaning of the word, implies something bad. It implies the thing being tolerated will pass. It's not ideal, but you can put up with it until it goes away. It also implies there is a point that the thing being tolerated will overwhelm whatever is tolerating it. A bridge operates within its stress tolerance - once that's exceeded, it collapses. A person has a pain/poison tolerance that, when exceeded, sends the person into shock, knocks them out, kills them, etc.

Tolerance testing is great for controlled engineering settings. Our society is being tolerance tested to see when it will collapse. It's beginning to look like we're there; the cracks are getting wider, and there doesn't seem to be any way to repair them without massive restoration. Vomit out the poison, shut down the bridge, etc. But I think we're past that. I'm pretty sure we're just in full collapse; so many friends I used to have are all-in on the brainwashing to the point they defend the trans shooter, blame the Christians (yes, even the children), and say my kids should die. Former good friends... even an econ grad that advocated shutting down hospitals for covid to "save the medical industry" as if increased demand ever killed an industry?

The difference is that troons were already accepted. Not just accepted but practically enforced. But now there is serious pushback, from the same people who were pushing for acceptance not long ago. A positive development, if it can be capitalized upon.
