Posted this before. posting again. It is a good thought experiment:
Let's pretend there are two people. Both very sick in the hospital.
There's Bill. Good guy, blue collar worker. Lived a decent life. Was raised in a non-religious household. He knows right from wrong, and treats everyone fairly. Is a loving husband and father. No one prays for Bill's recovery.
There is Frank. Frank is a member of a large church. Frank is a decent guy, treats everyone fairly. Before each mass, a thousand people pray for Franks recovery.
They both die. Which one makes it to a theologically promised paradise?
So if there is a prayer, there is paradise? That's very specific connection you have there. Do you know what's placebo? Do you know what's nocebo? They are powerful "drugs".
Even for atheists, you should consider the prayer format. There's plenty of value in collecting your thoughts around something you want or are questioning and verbalizing it in detail and with intent focus. Or even the same exercise but with gratitude for the good things in your life.
The former helps you get what you want and the latter is like a whitepill on demand.
But actual prayer goes beyond that and is very real. (And is way better if you pray to your people's own Gods)

I don't know if "shockingly", but collecting thoughts is truly interesting. Sometimes the need for a vice is destroyed with the simple thought "are those really my own thoughts?"

Be more specific because it matters.
If you are "oh god" before you cum that isnt prayer.

So, interestingly, triggered.
