I love flowers and particularly roses. What variety is that? I'm especially partial to Fire and Ice.

It's not actually a rose, it's just called that. I think it's called adeneum. It grows super slow, no thorns, flowers about once a year in my experience. I've had this one about eight years, it's not flowering as much as it used to but it still seems fairly healthy. She's got about a half dozen more buds on her getting ready to show off and that'll probably be it for the season. This is just the first one, and that shit makes me happy. I look at it every day.

I totally understand. I started growing bulbs last year. My wife had a shitload of amaryllis bulbs that she started in pots. I put them into a raised bed and they produced the most brilliant red blooms I've ever seen. Last year I planted hyacinth, daffodils, and Dutch irises, which produced blooms a while back when it was still fairly cool (I'm in California). They all produced this year, also when it was cool.

I planted some Dutch bearded irises last year, which thrived but didn't produced blooms. This year, one plant produced nine fantastic blooms of blue and white. It made me incredibly happy.

Anyone who says flowers aren't for men can go to hell. They're a gift, from nature, from God, or what have you.
