For a real safe, check out Fort Knox Safes.

What are you keeping out? Teenagers, fires or feds? Gun cabinet is cheap. Feds, you need something bigger.

I just bolted mine to some studs. You could break in with tools in the basement though.

I got a tracker safe with 11 gauge steel, 1 hour fire safe at 1200 degrees, bolts down and has a mechanical combo for $1600

Can I bust into the side of it with a $25 grinder from Harbor Freight?

You can. It's going to take a lot of time and make one hell of a cacophonous racket, but the same is true with any premium option.

Where was this? The ones I see with same specs are double the cost.

it was at home depot.

i got it and it was so heavy we're not even going to try getting it to the second floor without at least 4 guys, and even then... i don't think it's worth it. too unwieldy

I had a friend who was out of town, people found out, and they broke into his house, put holes in the walls around the safe, shoved chains through the holes, around the safe and back out to their truck. They repeatedly pulled the chains by driving off while hooked up, after what looks like a few attempts, they got the whole safe out, studs included.

Never found out who it was either... Now he's building a basement room that is the safe, so we'll see what's next.

I have some fancy guns but nothing worth pulling my safe through a wall like a nigger and an atm machine.

How many dollars of guns can you fit in a safe? 24×$1.5k is still just 36k.

200k worth of guns? Get a line on your insurance and take reasonable precautions.

Or... just fucking move! If you live in that type of place, you got too many niggers around. Black, or white.

For a good one I would say 8-1500

[ - ] anon 3105574 3 points 2.0 yearsMay 17, 2023 14:21:06 ago (+3/-0)

lol, no. A legitimately good safe will be 3-5k minimum.

Nah I've seen some decent usa made for that much granted they aren't huge but big enough for more than a few guns. Me personally I spent about 3k on a bigger one

Mine cost $700 (12 gun liberty). The one I bought for my son was $3000 (Amsec).

His is better. Figure out the size you need and then double that number.

Do you have to pay somebody to put it in or how do you attach it to your house?

I never put a gun in no safe. They're all hidden.

Bolt it to concrete with wedge anchors. Need a rotohammer, which you can rent or borrow, to make the holes. As noted upthread, the sides are a weakpoint. Cover them with a bunch of stuff and also hide the thing with a blanket. Never open it around anybody. The less they know the better.

The only concrete this house sits on is underneath it. I got like a crawl space/basement type thing, unfinished, and the first floor is built like a second floor. i don't know if the crawl space is a good place for guns or not. Probably not since it's out of the way and humidity.

Decoy safe is the best safe from intruders, albeit you can't brag to friends which spoils 90% of the fun.

build your own.

Gun safes are over rated.
Buy one if you have other stuff you want to keep secure, like gold, and also might as well use it to store guns.

But, otherwise, you are just keeping them locked away from kids.
A Huskey tool chest from the Homeless Despot will be good enough. Bolt it to the floor of the garage if you are really paranoid about thieves.
Usually, theives are just going to grab anything that moves. If it takes more than 30 seconds to grind a tool chest open, and they can't roll it away, then thieves are going to leave it alone.

Job boxes are also good. If it will keep your tools safe from junkies. It will keep your guns safe from junkies. Remember, bolt it the fuck down!

But, if you REALLY need a gun safe, check the pawn shops around town. At least one probably has a safe for sale.

I kinda agree on this. If you have 50k in firearms(possible I suppose) you probably need a commercial product. Otherwise, you are buying an overpriced insurance policy. Someone could steal my guns but they would do better to steal the car in the driveway or the tools in the garage.

Cement some caps on a 6in pvc pipe in the basement to look like a sewer line for better concealment.

How much?

[ - ] Master_Foo 0 points 2.0 yearsMay 17, 2023 18:25:35 ago (+0/-0)

A new cabinet / job box will cost around $1000ish.
Probably a lot less on Craig's List / Pawn shop.
