I almost bought one in 2006, but I ended up buying a BMW which I've been driving ever since, sort of.

I can't find one for sale in the US. They're all over the UK and Germany for 30k EUR. I can't tell if they didn't sell it here or what.

I used to have an E60 M5, but I sold it cuz it was a PITA. I kinda regret it though, cuz the new ones are too quiet. But it's a good DD. So I'm looking for something to fuck around with now.

Where can you go 125?

Anywhere with a low population density and straight roads for miles. Iowa was fantastic for flooring it to see how fast you could go.

I was unhappy to find that flat out a Ford Fusion is limited to 125. Never gotten around to removing that...now we're over 225,000 miles, so we'll never need to go that fast again.

Pro-tip: If you turn on your hazard lights, it overrides the speed governor on your vehicle. That's what I love about my old muscle car; no computers. Stomp it to the floor and hold on while your vision goes tunnel and the speedometer pegs out over 170mph.

Glad you clarified that. I have a 2015 GTI. While I have never tested it, I suspect the speed limiter would cut in before 139 mph.

If I recall your model is limited to 124 mph stock. All you have to do is tune the ecu. Plenty of options.

Can confirm. I used to drive from Clear Lake to the smaller towns. The roads were always empty, and I was told people normally drove about 80mph along those long, straight roads.

It's truly remarkable in some areas. Bits of Dallas County I would go through would have fun hills...but always a straight shot. Add a radar detector and you'll save yourself unnecessary tax revenue.

You can go 80 in Colorado with plenty of traffic around and going on over passes. Speed limit is 80, many go 90.

I went through some of the backroads going to New Mexico. 75 on a two lane narrow road was quite stimulating - really grateful I did not see much for wildlife.
