It's the little things

Every once in a while I'll want to bring my husband some extra cheer so I'll do little things like sew together a tiny stuffed animal and put it in front of his water glass to discover when he gets home. Or, I'll surprise him by patching the thinning elbow of his nightshirt or hang a charming framed print of mallards to brighten a room. Stuff like that.

He works hard and deals with a lot of nonsense to keep us in shampoo as they say and it makes me happy to take care of the nest so he doesn't have to lift a finger when he gets home and to show how much I appreciate him with tiny actions like I wrote above.

Needle, nice to see you! I brought my wife two bunches of flowers yesterday because I couldn't choose between the two. She's been getting a lot of flowers lately because a month or so ago she mentioned I never give her flowers anymore and she was right. So I'm making up for it because you shouldn't let life get in the way of what matters, the people you love and who love you!

My wife complains when I buy flowers because they cost money that could be better used elsewhere. So I planted some rose bushes and some tulips in the backyard garden. Blooming like crazy right now and she is happier than a lark 👌

I bought mine bulbs. Her favorite bulbs. Every spring hundreds of dollars of free flowers...

My wife is a pretty good lady. Just this morning I had the Best breakfast of everybody at work. She made a wonderful meal for me to have at work. Now I need to let her know how much I appreciate it.
She's not like most women. She would rather be fishing than going shopping! Sometimes doing something special for her can be difficult. None of that matters though. I'm thankful that she is my lady.

Often, I would have to get up at 3am for an early alert. I let my wife know, don’t worry, it’s too early to be hungry I’ll just get something on the way to the base. I usually woke up without an alarm I developed that ability after decades of flying. But, No matter how quiet I was, breakfast was waiting for me along with a packed lunch. The other crew members had breakfast burritos they picked up on way, I had a delicious home made meal. She is the best!

It's an old-timey expression to mean you have enough money to ensure essentials (like shampoo) are covered.
