The man's writing was always a downer. It was good writing, but still nihilist doomer pessimism. If he was actually some hidden optimist and I missed it let me know.

I never really saw anyone on Voat talking about him until I did. I first started noticing him becoming popular in proto-alt-right circles circa 2010.

The Road and Blood Meridian are the real musties.

RIP. Until now probably the greatest living American fiction writer. At least for those of our bent with a mainstream pedigree.
