Affirmative action is a self correcting problem. There are usually 2 sometimes 3 pilots up there. They will work together to safely translate your airplane through the surly blue. Yes, there are affirmative action hires up there. We put them on super secret double probation. The schedulers know and only allow them to fly with the best of the best. Yes, mistakes are made and two knuckleheads sometimes end up on the same flight deck. It’s rare because it’s expensive.

It’s easy, no stress. They tend to follow the rules. It’s when shit goes south and suddenly things do not make sense anymore. Think sully and and airplane no worky any more. That guy was fucked! Yet, he pulled a literal unicorn out of his ass and saved everyone.I’m still impressed to this day, fucking finest hero I can ever imagine. He would never agree but I’ve been there. I was not as smart as he was. I survived anyway.

My favorite part is second officer scully. You could see it in his eyes. What? We’re going in the Hudson? What the fuck? But Captain scully has made his decision. we are all going for a swim. What a bad ass, and I respect the 2nd officer for respecting it. Here’s the best part. You know Captain Sullenberg swept that entire airplane and made sure no one was left behind. Even though that bird could have sunk immediately without warning. Yet that dude ran through the entire aircraft making sure all his passengers were safely embarked. His family may not care, his kids may not care but I care. What a badass! You are my hero.
