Social Credit Penalizing system Canada. Companies asking for social media checks, and discriminating based on this. Is this legal?

Friend was told that his likes and shares on Facebook 'do not align with the 'community standards' of the company. After passing interviews, the hammer came down based on social media check. Not hired.

How is this legal? If I was asked to sign to do a background check on social media, during a hiring process, I would decline and ask them why they choose to discriminate based on political and religious affiliations. And if they don't hire me because I didn't agree to the background check, how is it NOT grounds to sue?
This is in Canada.

Going thru the very few threads on Reddit, some say that the employer can choose what kind of checks they want done: previous employer / criminal / social media.

I haven't found anything else on this so if anyone here knows additional info, pls share. This wasn't me, it was a friend. I'd be surprised if it's mandatory, because of potential for abuse.

I would expect this type of whining faggotry from a leftist but not a voater. We have all always known that employers and businesses frequently check the social media accounts of their workers and that people have rightfully lost their jobs for representing themselves in a manner that the business/employer doesn't agree with. This is no different. If they don't like that you are conservative or republican because you publicly announce it on social media then either stop posting and delete everything or find a business that does allign with your values.

Social media checks , esg scores.. I dont even know how the "sustainable suppliers" is a thing. Thats the craziest part. All of this is just sliding through. Super doubt any of it is legal. Its "just business". If you dont like it make your own... bullshit.

I have no idea about Canada. I maintain placeholder social media accounts to direct people to with (almost) no content -- just my pic and maybe my email.

These are my actual accounts since I don't use social media. it keeps anyone from impersonating me and gives something to pop up on google if people do look.

You dont get hired according to a recent post made by someone here a few days ago. I believe it. When my friends mom was looking to get back into the "workforce" ha after 20+ years of being a sahm , the classes she took had them watch a ted talk about the importance of building your social networks in order for employers to even look at you. This was easily 7-8 years ago.

On a happier note she will not be returning to work this upcoming school season and has now joined the "hate trangenders with a passion" side. Which has me wondering what did she see going on in that elementary school? Because her daughter says this anger towards the subject is so out of character for her.

If all they look at is DNS requests, they're gonna be sorely disappointed. The only queries that go outside of my system are directly to the root servers.
