Had a (false) fire alarm yesterday, I think street-shitting "chief engineer" told me to investigate myself

So I'm a fire and life safety director here in the democratic people's republic of communist new York City. It's arguably one of the most important jobs in any building that requires one.

We had a (false) fire alarm yesterday, and by fire code, we're supposed to have a fire brigade, which is usually the engineering team. So I ran my out of shape ass to the fire panel when it went off, and told them to go investigate the location where we received the alarm. That fucking retarded street shitting ass (may have, can't fully remember) told me to investigate it. I had to tell him that we had a fire alarm, and that I cannot leave the panel once it goes into alarm.

I think he even said to have a colleague go investigate; I was incredulous, and thinking back on it, if it was actually a real fire, I hoped that the incident commander from the FDNY would have chewed his useless ass out. I will absolutely throw that mother fucker under a bus to save my job.

So yeah tldr, useless street shitter engineer told me to investigate a possible fire, when as the fire and life safety director, I'm the one that is in charge, and have the authority to tell people to investigate, as per the fire department.

Deport all shit skins.

I did have the fire department come to my dorm one time and tell us to put the fire out. Our fire extinguisher (shared, they put em on the support columns of the building outside) had been stolen, but we had enough water and stale beer to do the job.

A lot of jackasses from parties would leave half drunk glasses of beer. They don't make 'em like they used to.

What actually happened is a friend of mine, a notorious drunk, decided to blow flaming vodka as a party trick. I guess in the process he started a fire, but he was too drunk to notice. So he exited the room, the smoke detector went off, and we all naturally exited the building. When the fire department came (which was like 30s cuz it's a small college campus) they were like "it's your shit that's on fire; put it out." They did replace our fire extinguisher, though.

Hi. Former safety lead here. That is supposed to be part of their training, and should have been signed off for their documentation.
If the fucker doesn't know his job, that's on him; tell him as much and show him the documentation to drive the point home.

I feel like death warmed over. I did have to haul ass from the office to the panel though, I can't remember the last time I ran like that, or was that out of breath. It can definitely be a stressful job, what with people not telling you what's going on around the building. But nothing compares to when the alarm goes off.
