Construction on this amazing edifice, the brainchild of Michel Guyot, the owner of a nearby Renaissance-era castle, started in 1998. Progress is understandably slow, so completion isn’t expected until 2030 at the earliest.

That BBC series Secrets of the Castle did an season about this. They also did Edwardian Farm and other time periods where the three historian hosts live on a period farm for a year. Not a bad show.

I went there about 7 years ago. As cool as it might sound to any of you, it is way more amazing than you can imagine. The day I visited their blacksmith was doing his second or third attempt at molding custom silver coins. (It failed but was cool as hell and a learning experience for him as well as the crowd.)
