Any of you magnificent bastards like to enjoy a cigar once in a while? My grandfather use to smoke Dutch masters and I would smoke one with him when I was done cleaning his house every week. Seems like I enjoy them more now, not dutch masters obviously, just the act of smoking a cigar and taking an hour to just sit and think. It's pretty awesome.
Yes, but it has been difficult finding my preferred stick for a couple years: Liga Privada no.9. I like the entire line, but all of them are getting hard to come by. LFD's La Nox is my favorite quick session smoke, and I can't seem to find them without severe mold issues lately, and don't call it "bloom" like a lot of cigar fags do; call it what it is and don't smoke that crap.
Thanks, but those are sold out. Prefer them in toro size anyway, although the Flying Pig is a classic in its own right! I could get them if I felt inclined to order, but I enjoy browsing the local humidors.
I prefer pipe tobacco but yes I also like cigars. Pipes don't have the punch of a cigar but that's fine with me. Lately I've been smoking Virginia's mostly, but I like dark fired Kentucky tobacco a lot too.
When I have a cigar I like to have something from Man o War or diesel. I find these cigars to be of good value and taste.
I will smoke a cigar to celebrate a significant event, but if I want to sit and think I will usually go on a walk in the dead of night in the woods on my property.
I have a humidor with several boxes. Some Cuban Cohibas and Montecristos, Tatuajes, Undercrowns. Tatuaje Black Label Corona Gorda is an all time favorite.
Bourbon, Cognac, Chocolate milk, or maybe a dr pepper to go with it.
If I've got the time to kill, it sure beats the typical beer and cigarettes.
I will inhale through the nose, french inhale I believe, or will exhale through the nose. I love the smells, the tastes, the smooth smoke, the nicotine, but it's the focus on the senses that blends into the deep thinking that is the greatest part.
I advise to not waste a GOOD cigar doing that novelty bullshit. Get a good cheap one to turn into a booze stick. Might enhance the flavor of an otherwise poor quality smoke.
I'm a frequent cigar smoker, about one a night. I prefer either a Toro or a Churchill without paper filler or wrapper. I buy them in bulk so I don't have to pay much more than about $1.10 each.
I find the ritual very relaxing, I never inhale cigar smoke, but I enjoy puffing on the cigar and watching the smoke rise and billow. I never smoke in the house, at least not cigars, but I used to when I smoked a pipe. Cigar smoke residue is too harsh, so out on the porch or in the garage is best.
It's a way to feel like one is enjoying a luxury, partly because, as OP says, it gives a man time to just sit and think.
I really scunged up the interior of the boat with pipe smoke. Finally busted out the windex and dust-free cloths and was pretty astounded at the damned scunge built up on... mostly the ceiling, because I guess everything else pretty much ets wiped off and paid attention to... but holy hell.
I know what you mean. It's also why I don't smoke in the car and forbid my wife from doing so also. It coats every interior surface and ages everything quickly and quickly reduces visibility on the wind screen.
I only smoke in convertibles, and only when the top is down and I own the thing.
I got rid of the convertible to smoke less. I only smoke on the boat, now. Trouble is, if I am on the boat, I somehow feel compelled to smoke by the smoke demons! Then the whiskey demons come along, et cetera and so forth.
I agree, frequent tobacco use isn't particularly good for a person, but it doesn't cause cancer. That is a fiction. If it were true, there would be many, many more people who died of tobacco-related illnesses. But we see that they are only the minority of people experience illness.
Untreated tobacco probably isn't very harmful, but the additives tobacco processors add to their products are EXTREMELY harmful, and even then, the number of those that suffer illnesses are a minority of those who smoke. The most accurate thing one can say is cigarette use has a correlation with some who smoke cigarettes over a long period of time.
This statement does not apply to cigar and pipe tobacco.
I can't imagine inhaling smoke into your lungs regularly is good for you. This seems pretty obvious. Sure, chew on it if you want, but smoking is pretty obviously bad. The extras just make it worse.
I drink a beer that's made two zip codes away. Don't get me wrong, my favorite beer is a cold beer. If I have a choice though, I definitely have a preference.
I rather like this one, for this purpose. It's pretty cheap, and for how cheap it is, it is pretty excellent. Unless you're in more of a Scotch mood, which is going to cost extra. I like the ones with the weird names I can never remember from the special little fancy scotch room at my local really good bottle shop [as the bogans call 'em].

$312 a box sucks but it's hard drinking tranny beer after you've had a micro brew.

My home brew is better than store bought thanks to a few basic tricks and equipment.
I also make mead. Keen to be able to make trade goods.
Next step is a still.
Because beer is too fattening for me now.

Beer and cigars go together like wine and red meat. The both make the other taste better and more enjoyable.
